In this land that normally overflows with warmth and sunshine things are still covered in white. That means Kadizzle is stuck in the house. Kadizzle is not a reader of books. He cannot concentrate that long. Sometimes though he does plow threw.
The Snoocher Bear recommended a book and Kadizzle has been reading page after page. The book is "Demon Copperhead". Since the book is written in a fast pace style and lacks the flowery BS so many authors get caught up in Kadizzle is enjoying the story. According to the Snoocher Bear the book is a remake of David Copperfield in modern times.
A big draw for Kadizzle in the book is his early days working in the area where the story takes place. That was near Tazwell, Virginia. Western Virginia, and Southern West Virginia are in another world.
Kadizzle has a lot of hillbilly blood, and memories. The book mentions things Kadizzle has not heard for centuries. Rain crows are mentioned. Kadizzle remembers old Luttrell Davis saying " It's going to rain, the rain crows are going". Luttrell ran the country store where my younger brother and Kadizzle got supplies. The choices were balony and baked beans, and of course you could get welfare cheese.
Way back when Kadizzle was maybe 22 he started his management part of being a coal miner. Stuck in the deepest part of Appalachia Kadizzle was bored to death and desperately in search of a girl friend. This resulted in exploration on weekends. Kadizzle was stunned when he drove into Burkes Garden. It was like the caldron of a volcano. In the book the geologic feature was given another name, but it had to be Burkes Garden. At first Kadizzle could not recall the name of the place, then it came. When you dropped down into the bowl it was like another world. Kadizzle was there in the fall and the place was like a perfect New England fall landscape with white fences and all. It was like a secret place in the mountains.
Back to the story. The poor kid that is the main character lives with his drug laden mother, and her abusive boyfriend. That part of the world reeks with poverty. The hillbillies were robbed blind by the people we now call Republicans. The coal was like gold, but the gold miners were just pawns to the owners. Just like the slaves in Walmart. Nothing has changed. The world is all about the smarter ones exploiting the dumber ones. Frank, and Jeff B. along with LMP will never figure it out. They are just pawns of the gang that lives on tax breaks. Read Paul Krugman today in the NYT. Sorry Frank, Jeff B, Kadizzle forgot you don't read anything tainted with reality.
