$80 fine for killing someone

Among Lord Kadizzle's many talents, his lordship is the municipal judge for our fair city. A couple of months ago a hearing was held. On a technicality a young woman was found not guilty for a traffic violation. Although the woman was not guilty the judge knew her driving habits were terrible. The judge told her that the goal of the court was to get people to drive sensibly. The judge went on to tell the young driver that if she did not quit driving like an idiot she would kill someone. Sad to say within a month of that lecture, the young girl hit an elderly man driving a motorized wheelchair in a cross walk. She killed the elderly man. Since the county prosecutor refused to charge her, the total fine she paid for the death of the man was eighty dollars. It turns out the man's death was just a minor inconvenience. In defense of the prosecutor, it has to be mentioned that the family did not wish to press charges. As a judge of over twenty years I have seen many of these kids come to court. The fundamental problem is over protective parents, that refuse to see that their children are not saints, or admit that a parent can easily be deceived by a child they love. No one benefits when a child is not forced to take responsibility for their actions.
