They had to blow up the kitchen.

Old Kadizzle has always been curious about the operation of the crime scene in his childhood town of Wheeling, West Virginia. Going way back the town was known as little Chicago. The town had it all prostitution, the race track on Wheeling Island, illegal gambling, drugs, and on it goes. Somehow it all worked and the town in the heart of steel mill country thrived with coal mines, steel mills, and heavy machining. In the day the town was visited by just about every important person on the political scene and had an important role in many national political scandals.

Surfing Youtube Kadizzle came across some historical pictures of Wheeling with commentary. One picture showed the construction of route 2 where the new road hooked onto route 70. The commentator was not sure when the picture was taken. Kadizzle was a highway inspector at the time about 21 years old. Kadizzle called the commentator on the video to tell him about when the picture would have been taken.

The gentleman and Kadizzle soon were engaged in Wheeling history and the creator of the video told the following story about how their kitchen exploded.

The government was after a well known gangster in Wheeling for tax fraud. In pursuit of the crime boss the federal government subpoenaed all the bar owners to testify about the tax fraud case. The father of the man who created the video was a bar owner around the 1930's and was called on to testify. Also the bar owner father was a good friend of the gangster the feds were after.

The story involves some speculation, but here is how it goes. Mr. Gangster wanted to send a message to all the bar owners in Wheeling that it would not be a good idea to testify against him. Connecting the dots apparently the gangs leader asked the father of the man Kadizzle spoke with on the phone to dynamite his own kitchen. The mother was told to be out of the house that evening for sure. Well the kitchen exploded as planned and the story made the paper. The message was clear. More than likely the repair somehow was paid for by the local crime syndicate.

This story makes a lot of sense since the same gangster blew the legs off another fellow who was acting up. Ironically both explosions took place in the same suburb of Wheeling. Kadizzle had friends in the gambling business as a teen and met the fellow who had his legs removed with dynamite. Kadizzle met him while he still had the legs. A bomb was placed in his car meant to kill him not educate him, but it merely blew his legs off, so he still was able to go back to work.
