Spent yesterday cleaning up the graveyard at Roosevelt, on Lake Roosevelt. The graveyard was full of the men who died and were killed working on the dam. One grave struck me, it was a boy 13. In the afternoon the woman who has been working to restore the graveyard showed up. She told me an interesting story about the boy. Apparently he drank contaminated water. His father was buried beside him.
One day when she was working last year relatives showed up and told the story how they both died. The dam was completed about 1914 and at the time it was the largest man made lake in the world. In 1990 the height of the dam was raised and the Forest Service got 40 million dollars for recreation. It was an amazing project with 1300 camp sites and endless amenities. Sadly the people never showed up from Phoenix to use it and it is now being dismantled in some parts. The Kadizzles have traveled much of the United States and never have we see anything that compares. So sad to see millions spent on the wall with Mexico while things like this are neglected.
The Republican governor of Arizona wanted to tickle the Hoopleheads so he had shipping containers stacked along the border, an incredible waste of money that made one of his donors rich. Now the same donor will be paid millions to get rid of the mess. The Hooples love this type of silly drama that accomplishes nothing.
Today Kadizzle used the weed Wacker to clear some of the campground trails. On the way down to the lake the ebike fell off the truck. Some damage, but repairable. Kadizzle got distracted and forgot to fasten down one fastener.
