Proud Grandpa

OK, grandpa is going to tell you how great Sylvie is, so you may want to just quit right now.  Kadizzle has an amazing grand daughter.  She keeps doing well at so many things.  Yesterday Kadizzle sat in on her climate action program.  Her school is amazing with better teachers than Kadizzle had in college.  Hazen teachers would never dream of being so pro-active and they would certainly not have the courage to speak up for the United Nations efforts to improve the world.

While the after school session was going on one of Sylvie's other teachers gave her a note asking if they could use her story in a display.  Sylvie wrote a story about her aunt dying and the teacher wanted to use the story as part of the Day of the Dead cultural display.  The teacher was very complimentary about the story.  Her mom and Kadizzle read the story when we got home.  Her writing ability for a fifth grader blew grandpa off his rocking chair.  With daughter Erin, Kadizzle read a few more of Sylvie's stories.  She has an amazing talent.

Sylvie's art abilities are also advanced.  Her drawing was chosen for the back cover of the year book. She sings, and also is a very good athlete.  Sylvie is an only child and grandpa will have to admit attention has been showered on her, but it has not spoiled her.  As one of nine children grandpa cannot believe the luxuriant life Sylvie lives.

Sylvie is currently enthralled with acting and singing.  She has the lead in another play and a big part in the school play.  Grandpa told her to give the other kids a chance.  This brings us to teachers. Her teachers have been amazing.  They should be paid like doctors and lawyers, not janitors.  What is wrong with this country that we refuse to recognize the job teachers do? Sylvie has thrived because of excellent dedicated teachers.  Why not pay them?  Instead we worship athletes, and pay truck drivers more.  Insane.
