Turn the street into a yard

It is a comfortable evening sitting on the swing on Erin's front porch.  There are no front porches like this in Hazen.  This front porch is unique.  There is no street.  Instead there is grass.  It is a wonderful social invention. All the kids have a common backyard, which happens to be everybody's front yard.  People mix, children play and the neighborhood comes together.  Why not try this in Hazen?  Well in Hazen we never change. In Hazen you don't see neighbors interacting, you don't see children outside playing.  What is a neighborhood?  A lot of what it is depends on how it was designed.  Was it designed to be a series of small fortresses, or was it designed to be a place where people come together? Way back when communities had a place called the commons.  People gathered on the commons.  Why did that concept go away?
