It doesn't hurt to ask

Kadizzle has often lectured young people about the concept of asking.  Much can be gained simply by asking.  Kadizzle could write a book about all the things and help he has managed to get over the years by simply asking.  Today Kadizzle practiced his scavenging skills.  For some time Kadizzle has been wanting to acquire some one inch pulling tape.  What in the hell is pulling tape and why would you want it?  People who have to run wires through conduit, or pipe do so with pulling tape.  Pulling tape is just nylon line in the shape of a flat belt.  The people who use the stuff only use it once.  They cannot take a chance on the tape breaking in a pipe.  The beauty of the stuff is it's strength.  The small stuff is good for 1500lbs and the nice stuff Kadizzle got today will hold 2500lbs.   Kadizzle uses it to tie everything and anything.  Since it is free you can cut it to any length and throw it away.

Kadizzle has been on the lookout for the one inch stuff for some time.  The trick is to find some construction guys with those huge reels of bright orange plastic pipe.  Today Kadizzle was riding about in Denver and there they were,  the big reels that signal pulling tape cannot be far away.  With luck two employees were right there.  Kadizzle  ASKED if they had any pulling tape.  The nice fellow said " how much do you want?"  Kadizzle said " how much do you have?'.   The worker went over and got a whole reel of the stuff and gave it to Kadizzle.   A reel is about 349 dollars.  There must have been about half a reel or more still on the drum.  Kadizzle was baffled by such a large amount of exactly what he was looking for.  Delighted with the find Kadizzle offered to pay the guy several times.  The man would just not take any money.  So now Kadizzle has a two or three year supply.    The last time Kadizzle went in search of pulling tape the man gave him a brand new roll of wire.  It mush have been about fifteen pounds of nice wire for fencing, tying bundles or whatever.  There again the guy would take no cash.

A lot of stuff goes to waste on construction sites and they always buy more than they need just in case.  Construction guys are always nice and will always give you a hand.

Now something Kadizzle forgot to mention about pulling tape is that it has measurements marked on the tape.  This is to help the guys pulling cables know how far into the pipe the cable is.  Now if you need an accurate tape to measure one hundred feet or three thousand feet the tape works great.  One reason Kadizzle likes to keep a lot of the tape in the truck is so he can be pulled out of any stuck place even from a couple hundred yards away.  Two strands of the stuff would equal three tons of pulling strength.  The stuff is just plain handy.
