Wacking Weeds

Six old people from age 68 to 75 up in the morning and setting off to fight the brush in the Tonto National Forest. The trails all over the forest don't clean themselves. Nasty thorny bushes grow at amazing speed. Hikers will be cut to shreds if someone does not fight the cat's claw into submission. Volunteers and prisoners are on the front line in the battle. So much of this work has to be done by hand. Throwing the brush off the trail is like handling razor wire.

Meanwhile the country falls apart while the Republicans make sure the rich are never taxed. There are some groups of young people that work on the trails. The young people are paid a mere pittance, but it does get some city kids out in the wilderness experiencing a different phase of life. For what it cost to give one billionaire a space ride thousands of people could be put to work making the country better for everyone. Who cares? The head of Walmart makes 8,000 dollars an hour. Meanwhile the poor old granny at the door gets 8 dollars an hour. No problem this is capitalism in action. Are we really that stupid?

Reading the New York Times this morning it is obvious the country is on the wrong track. Republicans will take us toward a Nazi type country very quickly. Manipulating stupid people is a technique the Republicans have perfected. It is all about protecting the rich from taxes. The rich buy all the politicians they want. With the politicians on strings they make them dance. Recently the head of Sanford Health was ousted with a 49 million dollar bonus. Nobody noticed the robbery. This is America, as long as you have gas for the boat and cable tv on the flatscreen who cares? Suffering is the only thing that works. Long ago we had a depression. People got cold, hungry, and were suffering. Those people were on the verge of communism and socialism. Then the smart rich decided it was time to throw some crumbs. So here we go once more toward a peasant revolt. We just don't learn. The world is melting, people are starving, but the tv works, and the fish are biting.
