Prisoners and ebikes

As a volunteer for the Forest Service Kadizzle ends up interacting with the prisoners who do so much to keep the place running. Yesterday Kadizzle could see a young worker dressed in his orange jump suit eyeing the ebike.  Kadizzle told the guy to hop on and give it a try. He was about the fifth or sixth incarcerated fellow to ride the bike. After sitting around a jail a ride on a ebike is a big thrill for these guys. The fellows who have committed some low grade crime are the saving grace for public works. They contribute millions to our society, and love to get away from the encapsulated life. North Dakota could accomplish so much by following what Arizona has done. Keep in mind these guys love to get outside and work, these are not chain gangs. The prison system in Arizona is very strict with the people that do public service. It is so well liked by the men who do it that they make it a point to work hard, be polite, and get the job done.  Covid shut down the workers and it very quickly shows in how the campground we work at goes downhill. The biggest fight here is the brush. In just two days the eight guys have rehabilitated two big campgrounds. These guys do everything, from digging up the water lines, to chainsawing the trees.

If you talk to the poor fellows you soon realize they came from disadvantaged backgrounds. You get to see first hand how our society fails. People get depressed and take drugs, steal, and commit other crimes. It can be depressing to watch billionaires take joy rides in space ships while you don't have the money for gas to get to work.
