Up the River
The Commander assembled the troops and declared a march up the Knife River in search of a North West Passage to Beulah. For years there has been a legend you could reach the city of gold to the west of Hazen by following the Knife west. As we marched along it was fun thinking about how the Indians must have done this in the pre-whiteman days. The Commander found an old wagon wheel sticking out of the sand. Once in a while someone finds an old buffalo skull. Our expedition did not find the legendary city of Beulah, but we did have a nice walk on a sunny afternoon.
