A Vast Wilderness

Since the sun was warm and the day was clear old Kadizzle hopped on the motorcycle and went exploring. Soon he found himself on a Forest Service road. It was the usual stupidity. The road got pretty bad and Old Kadizzle did not have all the safety gear he should have. However, he did have enough sense to wear a helmet. As usual the urge to see around the next bend took over. In no time Kadizzle was deep in the Tonto National Forest not sure exactly where he was.  Oh, he forgot to even take a GPS.  One road lead to another.  In general the cycle was headed toward the town of Rye.  So mile after mile Kadizzle began to realize just how vast the wild country is.  Humans get used to the idea every once of the planet has been tamed, but this is not the case, and really not the case in Arizona. In Phoenix you would think man had built an paved every square inch, but Kadizzle has spent so much time exploring the forest that he is aware and awed by the shear volume of untamed land. Well, untamed may be a misnomer. Just about everywhere has been logged, grazed or exploited.  However, when you traipse about you realize how really big the world is. Looking at the mountains and hill it is hard to imagine what taking off overland would be like. One thing you find when you do take off is someone else has done it. The native Americans explored every once of the country hunting, looking for water, and a better way to get somewhere.
