Reno Pass

Two old people one within weeks of 72 and the other 71 with a need for exercise.  Winky decides on a bike ride up to Reno Pass. The settlers gave up on the road because it was too hard on the horses.  The road was also hard on the ebikes and the old bikers.  If someone could build a road by sprinkling softball sized rocks these people did, then the road builders hung the road on the side of a cliff.  It is about six miles to the top.  When we finally got within a quarter mile of the top the road was so bad we just walked.  Winky went to the very top, but Kadizzle sat on a rock and looked at the GPS.  The map indicated the top was about four hundred feet higher. Winky came back and reported it was just a short distance away.  On the way up Winky had a spectacular crash with no injuries, however she just about went off the edge.  Coming down Kadizzle had his crash and bloodied his knee.  The ebikes are amazing.  The ability of that little battery to push a lump ass up that mountain is some great technology.  The Reno Pass road get very near the top of Mount Ord.   Mount Ord is the highest peak around, and is used for every type of antenna, and other broadcast system.  The road was used to bury the cable up the mountain.  It must have been an engineering feat.  The mountains around Tonto Basin are extremely rugged.  Early roads were treacherous.  People must have been very determined in the early days.  Lazy people of todays time could never have built such paths through the wilderness.
