Life in the Vast Lane

Here we sit in the vast open spaces of North Dakota.  Although the sailboat is chomping at the bit ready to go it has only made two brief forays into the vast inland sea of Lake Sakakawea.  The wind gods have uncooperative.  High winds and cool weather have damped the desire, and add to that a Mrs Kadizzle with a broken wrist.

Kadizzle was delighted to find he was named one of the top ten writers on the Weelunk Blog. Weelunk is a local blog back home in West Virginia.  Viewing the blog has been a lot of fun seeing the old sites of home and exploring the local history.  The Blog has stories and remembrances of people who live there and those who have moved away. Wheeling is a very old city on the Ohio River.  The river city brims with history.  George Washington visited very early and claimed a lot of land for himself.  Washington's relatives are buried on the top of Wheeling Hill.

Not far south of Wheeling is the Mason Dixon line.  As a kid Kadizzle crossed it almost every weekend going to our hillbilly hideout farther south in the state.  So maybe a trip to the lake today.  May the sun keep shining.
