For some strange reason our mission in life seems to be to find every place in the Southwest were an ancient Indian may have had a dwelling. Sometimes finding one of these places takes years. Today we scored a victory. For years we have heard about a dwelling close to the falls on Workmen Creek high in the Sierra Ancha wilderness. Today with Ruth and Rodger we set out to find the ruins. Yesterday we made a six mile foray on the Tule trail so our batteries were already worn down. In the neck of the woods high in the pines were many of these ruins are located it seems these people did not want to be surprised, consequently they built their homes in some very inaccessible places. In this wilderness every ruin we have found is extremely difficult to get to. You always wonder on a daily basis what these people did just to get water and to and from their hunting. So off we started on a scramble straight up the mountain. Climbing up a scree slope is no easy task. It is nothing but a steep slope of football sized rocks that are as steep as gravity will permit.
