Day Two

The Commander caught a bit of a cold at the Super Bowl party, but she is up for working today in our new career.  Yesterday we got off to a good start and cleared brush from about two miles of trails.  One problem occurred when we inadvertently worked in the wrong place.  What looked like the trail was not.  A sign is needed.

Getting up early and going to work is a whole new life style.  Thank God and Greyhound it is warm in the morning.  The camp host down at the Grapevine group camp area where we are working invited us to his spot for some roasted pecans.  It was a good treat and he had cooked them in a solar oven.  Which brings Kadizzle to the sun.  Then New York Times has a good article about the sun and it is worth reading.  The realization that we live at the mercy of a giant nuclear bomb makes one realize how fragile life on this planet is. Many stars like our sun pulse.  If our sun were to do so we would be history.  The energy put out by the sun is mind boggling.

The Commander keeps commenting on how good life is plugged into electricity.  It does bring to realization how much people depend on utilities.  We have no television, which is both good and bad.  Public Radio is our main connection with the world.
