How does the mind work?

Honest Omar gave old Kadizzle a book .  Generally speaking giving Kadizzle a book is about like giving a dog a book. Kadizzle has a small attention span, but the subject off the book did get the reading going.  THE BELIEVING BRAIN is the book. How exactly do we think? How do million, in fact billions of people believe total nonsense. The book tries to answer the question. If you never asked yourself " How did I come to that conclusion" you should try it.  How many people believe in mystical magic beings that we cannot see?  Yup billions of people. It would seem if you owned a brain, and it is questionable if a lot of people do, that at some point you would wonder how it works.

The brain pulls a lot of tricks on us. It sees patterns that are there, and it sees patterns that are not there.  Too many times the brain wants to believe.  Everyone would like to believe Donald Trump can and will make America great again. However, a lot of brains realize this is unlikely to happen.  Why does one brain fall for the scam, and another brain doesn't?  Wouldn't it be nice to know.

So almost to the end of the book Kadizzle has some new insights.  A major controversy with the brain is the idea of a soul.  Is there part of the brain that goes on after death?  No one knows, of course the religious will chose to believe.  The word is chose.  No one knows.  Why do people chose to believe?  That is a mystery worth looking into.  That is what this book is about.

Right now the country is in the midst of a gun insanity problem.  A lot of people chose to believe all sorts of things about guns that cannot be backed up with data, facts, or common sense.  It makes no difference if someone is out to get you or not.  It is what you believe.  If you believe someone is going to do you harm you think you better have a gun.  The strange thing is you are 68 years old, no one ever came after you in a situation where a gun was needed. Doesn't make any difference.  It could happen.  You could be hit by a small asteroid. You have never seen one or even come close, but it could happen. People have had small space rocks come through their roof.  Now do you get a better roof, do you move into a cave, what do you do? Nothing.  Somehow your brain treats the idea of a robber coming to your house entirely differently.  How does your brain get you to the state of mind that you purchase a gun.

On it goes.  You go to church they tell you things that are clearly impossible.  You believe these things.  Why? How?   Pick up this book, pick up some book and open the window into your own mind.
