Grandpa and Grandma just got a joyful video of Evie putting along pushing a cart learning to walk. So much fun to see the little girl make such great accomplishments. Videos of Sylvie skiing, and Evie learning motor skills are a delight.
Now the bad news, It wasn't but a couple weeks ago Kadizzle was in a Florida nursing home watching seniors progress with their walkers. Here is Evie about to turn one, and it makes Kadizzle realize someday there will be an Evie about to turn one hundred. The future is something we would all generally like to ignore. Time has a way of working with the sun to fade everything. Our strength fades, our sight fades and so it goes. There is hope, spring, springs eternal The old life is replaced by the new.
The big question comes. What do we leave for Evie, and Sylvie? Do they get clean oceans, air, forest, trails, waterfalls? We can ignore the moving hands of the clock or we can embrace the future. Kadizzle feels like he lived in a somewhat golden age. Never hungry, never cold, never really wanting, a good life unfolded. So much of what Kadizzle enjoyed came because of the people before him. Soldiers saved our country, scientist made life better, teachers taught us to learn and enjoy, but now there is uncertainty. Going backwards has been made acceptable. Selfishness has reached a new popularity, religion has been turned on it's head, community spirit has disappeared, and the workplace has just become a means of exploration.
So we had our fun, and now our fun is watching the little ones enjoy life. Are we going to sit idly by and let Donald Trump usher in the Dark Ages?
