Up in the Mountains

Sun was shining, sky was blue, up to the Sierra Ancha Mountians we flew.  Four members of the trail crew drove up through the pines to the highest mountains around here.  With a magnificent view we could see for a hundred miles in every direction by the fire tower.  The real treat was the herd of Elk down below.   About a dozen Elk were hiding in a small grove of trees sun bathing and grazing.

With the magic key we went up into the fire tower.  One benefit of volunteer work is you get a magic key.  The magic key unlocks every lock in five million acres.  Someone had broken a window in the fire tower so Ken took measurements to replace the glass.  Some old friends spend some of their young years as summer fire tower couple.  That must have been bliss.  Ken told how he was in a fire tower in a lightening storm.

In summary we had a great day.  Jasper, Ken, and Rita hiked down the trail to where Kadizzle left the truck.  Kadizzle hopped on the ebike and rode twenty miles down the mountain, and dropped about five thousand feet.  That is like coasting downhill into the Grand Canyon.  More than once Kadizzle had to stop to let the disc bike brakes cool.  It was a spectacular trip and Kadizzle did not feel safe letting the bike go much over thirty.
